Behaviour
Behaviour & Culture at Woodlands
At Woodlands, we believe that kindness, community, and altruism are the heart of everything we do. Our goal is to create a positive environment where every child feels safe, valued, and encouraged to do their best.
Celebrating Success
We focus on the positives. We love to recognise children’s efforts and achievements through:
Daily Praise: Kind words, stickers, and letting parents and carers know their child has had a great day.
Rewarding Values: Using ‘DOJOs’ for great work and ‘marbles’ for acts of kindness.
Assemblies: Weekly celebrations and special awards for those showing Respect, Resilience, or Responsibility.
How We Handle Challenges
Every child makes mistakes, and we view these as opportunities to learn. To keep our school a happy place, we use a clear and fair approach:
Clear Boundaries: Teachers ensure all children understand our school rules from Day one.
Emotional Support: We teach children how to manage their feelings using Regulation Stations or our Rainbow Room.
Restorative Conversations: We only address behaviour once a child is calm. Staff then have a supportive talk with the child to reflect on what happened and how to move forward fairly.
Supporting Every Individual
We recognise that every child is unique.
SEND Support: We use our professional judgment and deep knowledge of each child to ensure that those with Special Educational Needs are supported fairly and with understanding.
Individual Plans: For children who need extra help meeting expectations, we work closely with parents and carers to create an Individual Behaviour Plan (IBP). These include small, achievable targets and fun reward activities, like cooking or games, to celebrate their progress.
