Safeguarding

Safeguarding at Woodlands Primary School

At Woodlands Primary School, keeping children safe is our highest priority. We are fully committed to safeguarding and promoting the health, safety and wellbeing of every pupil. All staff, governors and volunteers share this responsibility.

How We Keep Children Safe

  • We have clear safeguarding and child protection policies in place.

  • All staff receive safeguarding training every year, so they know the signs that a child may be at risk and how to respond quickly and appropriately.

  • We listen carefully to our pupils and encourage them to speak to any trusted adult in school if they are worried about anything.

  • When necessary, we work closely with parents/carers and other professional agencies to ensure children receive the right support. We will always talk to parents first unless doing so would put a child at greater risk.

Working in Partnership

We follow national safeguarding guidance, including:

Keeping Children Safe in Education

Working Together to Safeguard Children

We also support the Government’s Prevent duty to protect children from radicalisation and extremism.

Operation Encompass

We work in partnership with Merseyside Police through Operation Encompass.

This initiative ensures that, following a domestic abuse incident, key school staff are informed so we can provide immediate and sensitive support to any child who may be affected. Our key adults for Operation Encompass are Gemma Crosthwaite and Mandy Skillen.
